Program Coordinator

About Us:

West End Arts District is a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting the arts and fostering cultural engagement in the West End of Alameda. Our mission is to provide a platform for artists to create vibrant art experiences on the West End of Alameda that bring together local and regional audiences around the visual and performing arts. Our events and programs offer new perspectives, spark conversation, and engage with the landscape we live in.

Job Summary:

In collaboration with the City of Alameda, Radium Presents and Rhythmix Cultural Works, West End Arts District is launching Rising Tides, a one-year climate arts initiative.

As Program Coordinator for Rising Tides, you will play a key role in rolling out the initiative by engaging with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and community groups to design and coordinate our outreach work. You will lead efforts to coordinate outreach programs, develop educational materials, and manage the Rising Tides website.

Responsibilities:

●      Visioning and content creation for the Rising Tides website, including updating content, creating blog posts, and sharing relevant information.

●      Conduct outreach to schools, colleges, nonprofits, and community groups to promote Rising Tides initiatives and events.

●      Coordinate with partners to present and share educational materials related to anchor arts projects, ensuring alignment with program objectives.

●      Collaborate with community groups, including WEAD and Rhythmix Cultural Works, to coordinate outreach programs and maximize community engagement.

●      Design and implement an audience survey to gather feedback and improve engagement strategies, hosting the survey on the Rising Tides website.

●      Maintain an onsite presence during anchor programs, managing school visits, documentation, and social media updates.

●      Implement evaluation measures throughout the program, including design, distribution, and presentation of evaluation data.

Required Skills:

●      Organized and committed with strong time management skills.

●      Confident, outgoing, and able to communicate passionately about projects.

●      Creative thinker with the ability to find engaging ways to share information.

●      Experience in community outreach and engagement.

●      Familiarity with website management and content creation (Squarespace).

●      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

●      Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits:

●      20 hours per month @ $40 per hour, for 14 months paid through WEAD.
