Help Paint the Taxiway Mural!
Help Twin Walls Mural Company complete the Taxiway Mural Project. We’re seeking volunteers from the community to contribute 3 hours of time on March 9 or 10 (Saturday or Sunday) to help paint in the mural outline on the Taxiway’s asphalt surface. Supplies and instructions will be provided.
Taxiway “Life of Flight” Mural Project
Running across the Northern side of Seaplane Lagoon, the Taxiway is a huge stretch of concrete with incredible views of the Bay and SF skyline. WEAD has commissioned artists to create something memorable and playful to inject some color into the concrete canvas. These murals have contributed to the creation of Radium’s new arts hub, Radium Runway, and create backdrops for the event space.

ART CELEBRATES COMMUNITY
Waterfront Park Launch Fest
Alameda’s newest public park
What better way to celebrate the opening of the new Waterfront park than a free, all-ages art-fest featuring some of the Bay Area’s most talented musicians and dance artists? Rhythmix Cultural Works and West End Arts District combined two of their popular arts events into a one-day festival to celebrate the opening of the long-awaited Waterfront Park in Alameda.
ART HEALS COMMUNITY
Healing Garden Summer Series
The artists, musicians, and performers
The Healing Garden became a welcome return to live performances for so many after the Covid-19 lockdowns; the series was made up of smaller, outdoor arts events including over 40 music concerts, contemporary dance, comedy, theater, hip hop, and craft events. Enjoyed by more than 6,000 people from all over the Bay Area, the Summer Series provided paid working opportunities for over 230 artists, including musicians, dancers, visual artists, comedians, actors, makers and photographers.
ART UPLIFTS COMMUNITY
Webster Gateway Mural
Welcome to the West End
Five years in the making, the Gateway Mural is a 2000 sq. ft. mural designed by Oakland muralist, Dave Young Kim. Located on the north side of Ceron Kitchen at 1619 Webster Street, Dave painted this monumental work in November 2021 with the help of fellow muralist Erik Burke. With themes of local natural beauty, human connections to land and sea, and Webster Street's symbiotic relationship with Alameda Naval Air Station, the mural brings together symbols that unite our community with beautiful realism that define Dave Young Kim's style. A “Gateway Mural” on Webster Street has long been at the top of the West End Arts District bucket list. A strong public art statement to welcome people to the Island, and to the budding arts district.
ART SHAPES MINDS
Creating with Young Artists
The West End Arts District Youth Committee exists to ensure that our programs engage, educate and inspire young artists in Alameda and beyond. We are continually looking to collaborate with students and teachers, and would love to hear from young and aspiring artists.
